WCSHL Opening Weekend

Wednesday, April 29, 2026

The Western Canada Spring Hockey League will begin its inaugural U18 Spring Division this weekend, with the first of four scheduled showcases taking place in Kamloops.

Four teams will compete in the division’s opening event: the Kamloops Storm, Quesnel River Rush, North Alberta Trashers, and Southern Alberta Hailstorm. Each team will face off over a three day stretch as part of a rotating showcase format that will continue later this spring in Quesnel, Northern Alberta, and Southern Alberta.

Opening games are scheduled for Friday at Valleyview Arena, marking the first official action in league history. The showcase will then shift to Brock Arena on Saturday and Sunday, where the teams will complete the remainder of the weekend schedule.

The Kamloops Storm enter the weekend as the host organization and will look to establish themselves early on home ice. Quesnel, Northern Alberta, and Southern Alberta will each use the opening showcase to set a baseline ahead of the remaining events on the calendar.

The U18 Spring Division is structured to provide consistent competition across multiple regions, with each showcase offering head to head matchups between all four teams. Results from each weekend will carry through the duration of the spring schedule.

With all four teams meeting for the first time under the league banner, the Kamloops showcase will serve as the initial benchmark for performance and standings as the season gets underway.
